Culture shock in an anthropological term can be explain like a “state of anxiety and frustration resulting from the immersion in a culture distinctly different from one's own” this can be caused by the the inability to understand new patterns of cultural behavior, symbols, and expressions present in the new social setting.
So in few words is when we dont understand the meaning of symbols of the other culture.
I had a experience of "cultural shock" when I went to Indonesian.
This country have a culture completly different of our occidental culture in many ways.
One of this is the bargaining, and was very difficult to me get used of this. All my life I paid for a fixed price, sometimes you can have a discount but is not usually. But in Indonesia all is haggling. Always when I needed buy something like food, toilet paper, water and basic things or take a taxi, a tour, or whatever, I had to negotiate.
The first days, of course I was dupe, because nobody told me the economic system in this country were so hard, but after, I felt like an expert, and was fun for a short time. But after week was terrible…I didn't buy anything and I prefered walk for hours and not pay a taxi. In the end of day I felt exhausting!
My brain always think about the haggling: “be careful” “you can get a lower Price” “still haggling” “he lie, is not that expensive”…But luckily for me, they had "aussie" business, a little more expensive but sometimes help me.
Of course, not all bad, many times I I got good prices.

Post 8 : What is my favorite music
I want to talk about my favorite music, I dont listen just one kind of music, but I prefer the old music, from 70's to past.
I really like the music of this years like the Doors, the beatles, led zeppelin, Janis Joplin and specially the psychodelic band Pink floyd, the best music band ever. (of course in my opinion)
But the last years I delved into a specific style: the Jazz.
This music style start in 20’s in New Orleans, Usa. This city had many african communities, and they created the jazz.
The important in this kind of music is the improvisation, something like the “key element of Jazz”. The musicians can crete their own interpretations within that tune in response to the other musicians’ performances. I think this is great, and not many musics style have this attribute, that allows musicians play with the sounds, notes and rithms.
For me, Jazz mean freedom, all the people when play jazz have the individual freedom to créate and express them selves on their instrument, but with responsability to the group by adhering to the overall framework an structure tune.
That is the reason what I like it so much the Jazz.
I really enjoy when I listen Jazz because you can listen the creativity and a high quiality in musicians, a genius for me.
Exist a lot of differents style of Jazz but I prefer the classsic way. Sometime just intrumental and other days I like with singers. But all is up to you.

English Language Challenges
In general when we was child, we dont consider the
importance of learn english in the school. In my case I remember I didn't
understand when the teacher speak, not because she don't taught good, but because
for me was very difficult listen and speak other language. Some people born
with talent to understand other language, but not me. And I was very lazy to
strive to learn english.
But now, in the university, I understand how wrong was my
attitude. All the papers for my carrer are in english, all the basic
information and the more update knowledge are in english, and is not so easy
search specific information in spanish, so whatever I need, I have read in
english, and of course, understand it.
In my opinion, these english classes have been excellent way
to learn. Every class feel I 'm learning and understanding more. And the
exercise and home Works have helped me, like write in the blog. The blog has
been the best in this course, because I can practices my gramma and
composition, I dont like too much record me on videos, because I feel
embarrassed, but is ok, I can practice my pronunciation, and I think us not
that bad.
Maybe my english is not the best, so my plan is improve it
while I read about my thesis. not beacuse I enojoy it ,but because I will need
use it like a tool.

Post 9: Good and Bad points
This year had been a great year for me, but a little difficult in academic world.
The last year I took a break in my studies and this year I went back to resume my career. So, after spending a lot of months without having to study, was a huge challenge to me.
The good things that happened this year are that all my family and friends are ok, this is the most important point for me.
The firsts month of the year I could know a lot of places and amazing views that maybe never could see again. I met a lot of people of different cultures and countries and I think that this allowed me open my mint and be more tolerant.
Also, I started a beautiful relationship with my boyfriend Jose Miguel and Im really happy with him.
On the other hand, the bad points of the year was that my little cat Cleo died in July of renal disease, that is the worst happened to me and my family. And in the university I failed a course of "Morphophysiology" so I have to repeat the next year. I still have no topic for my project memory and is very difficult for me to manage stress.
In general, 2014 has been a good year at the moment, but obviously there are things I have not been able to do like learn accordion or do all the sport I wanted or camping in the Cajon del Maipo, or do more trekking in Santiago. Whatever, the best part is the year is not over, so I still have time for do all I want amd others that I still dont know, but the important is have a attitude to face the future. future.

How green are you?
When I think about the question, my answer is not
what I expected. The truth is I’m not a totally green person.

May be I’m not a terrible person, but is important
to ask yourself that question and reflect on our actions, because we need to do
more for the environment.
I know recycling is very important in this moment,
because the pollution affects us all. For the same reason is essential to know:
what is recycling and how we can help, especially in Santiago that has very
high levels of air pollution. It is contradictory to know that Chile has a
large area for different types of clean energy, but this is not done, such as
solar energy. We could minimize own Carbon footprint if only we were to use
cleaner energy and we adopt a culture of recycling. We need change our
education and transform to a green education to the future and implement public
policies that help the environment.

My experience in the field
In the field
was two kind of work, the first one consisted in excavate soil layers of 15
centimeters with a tool: spatula, and clean with a brush. The Second works
consisted in strain the soil of the first work and then analyzes the residues
of the soil and classify them according to research.
My favorite
work was excavate, because I feel like an archaeologist, but the problem with
this is the work position. That work is very hard, and suffers back pain.
The
relationship with my classmates was very good, everyone try to help each other
to clean the area and analyze the different sizes of bones (some of them were
animals) and other was like a small shell (similar to those of sea snails).
The
experience of work in the field, was essential to understand some of the study
area across the time (many centuries), and generate motivation in career,
assess the archaeological sites, and create awareness in society, generate
respect for ancient civilizations to understand the past, present and future of
the development of human civilization.

My Future job

And in this case my dream job is outdoor or in last chance in a laboratory. I would want earn a salary enough to travel and pay for the basics needs. A good job must have a good working environment, because the work not doesn't becomes humdrum. A job in which I have free time and can do other things like read, do some sport, visit to my family, go to theater, to a bar with my friends or learn a lot of things. I think a job without leisure time, not worth it.
But the truth is, I feel disappointed, because for me the Physical Anthropology not have real a social vision, is just memory, technic and not worries about current social issues.
I dont know how look my future, but all is possible, maybe I would study a postgraduate in other country to specialize in something relation to the physic anthropology, or in other field of study, maybe I would work in office or not, but the important think is that my dream job would make me happy.

My best Holiday ever!
Last year I took my bag and I went to South East Asian for 4 months.
My favorite place was Cambodia, is a little and really poor country but the people always smile and laugh, they have a rich culture and a particular business: massages and manicure shop. That is crazy, because I saw an amount of these shops all over the country, really! it was excessive, but very cheap. It was like 5 dollars for pedicure and foot massage.
But the most interesting of this country is its history, not only has one of the most important and old World Heritage sites, but also has sad past. In the 70's, there was a horrible genocide where 80% of its population
died!!
But for me, I went to the most famous temple, Angkor wat, the first Hindu temple complex, 2 hours from the city by bike.
So, I took a bike and went to the temples by myself and I spent 3 days just enjoying the amazing view.
The contrast between one of the most ancient ruins and the nature is impressive, and you can see how nature always is superior to the human constructions.
I think this travel was the best I've done in my life.

Why I choose my carrer?
When I was child I loved history and biology, I always thought these two subjects were not compatible. I felt surprised when I knew about this career, because for me it was the exact mix that I was looking for.
Thus, for me this career have wide variety of subjects to specialize. Personally, I prefer all about genetic, DNA and research about this. I think the physical anthropology could be a contribution in biological field.
This career research about the human evolution, the genetic differences among people and their antecessors or among the Homo specie. Also is very important for the forensic investigations, the physical anthropologists are essential in the genocide cases around the world and specialy in the missing people in Latin America. The physical anthropologist have the knowledge and tools for the identify people.
This career is multidisciplinary, because the physical anthropologist can work with archaeology about Bioarchaeology.
Finally I chose the University of Chile, because this University is one of the best in this country, it is the only one that offer this career in Santiago, and I liked the pluralistic vision of this institution.

Post 1: A country I would like to visit

One of my dreams is travel for all world and know the
different cultures, views and people. But I know this is a really difficult
dream, for this, if I had choose one country for visit, I really like would to go to
India.
I don't know why, but this huge country attracts my
attention and interest.
I would
like to visit India just for holidays o maybe work like volunteer because is a
very poor country and is one of the most populated countries in the world, but
is one of the most big countries also. Have a lot of religions and language and
the population is mainly Hinduism, unfortunately the Hinduism people and Muslim
people have a conflict from years ago.

Maybe one day, who knows!
